Highlight of Our Board Composition Structuring Process

Preliminary Inquisition; we seek to know:

Why does your organization exist?

What are you trying to achieve?

What are your board's practices and ancillary policies?

Is your board's structure built to support your purpose?

Do your board members understand their role and measurebly demonstrate this understanding?

We craft a bespoke strategy for your organization whilst considering, whether:

The mix of skills, experience and backgrounds of the proposed individuals or the board (if already formed) are aligned with the overarching strategy of the organization.

All current board members bring skills and experience that are relevant and useful to the board.

The board has appropraite policies and practices to enable orderly an sustainable board succession.

The board employs a skills/experience matrix as a pivot for assessment of its composition.

The board adequately considers its approach to gender diversity including formulation of relevant policies.

The board routinely undertakes frequent and detailed assessments of the skills/experience that are desirable on the board, with a view to identify and remedy potential or identified gaps.

Our operative goal is to ensure a right sized board that is able to deliver and discharge its role effectively and have impactful discussions. We pay critical attention to the mix of relevant skills, experience and backgrounds that will aid sustainable decision making and enhance board effectiveness, having regard to the organzation's values and needs. Whilst we understand the typicality to focus on having techincal or other specific skills, we believe it is important to ensure a good generality of skills on every board, for optimal performance. Diversity (including age, gender or educational background) increases the quality of the work and the interaction on the board, and ensures diverse approaches to solving the tasks of the board.
